Calculators for contractors

Four tools covering the money questions that decide whether a construction business makes anything at the end of the year. Each one runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is stored and nothing is sent.

Use them in order

The rate calculator sets what an hour of your crew’s time has to earn. The job price calculator takes that cost into a bid with overhead and profit on top. The employee versus subcontractor tool answers who should do the work. The WIP calculator tells you, mid-job, whether any of it is going to plan.

They share one idea: the number that matters is almost never the one on the invoice.

Where the numbers come from

The defaults in each tool are typical for a small Oregon or Washington contractor, not your business. Workers’ comp alone swings enormously by class code, and an overhead figure that is a year out of date will quietly underprice every bid you make.

If you are not confident in the numbers you are typing in, that is what a Books Checkup is for.
